Throw Away Kids
“You`re just like your mother, bad.” That`s what I heard all through my childhood. “Your mother was a tramp and we took you because God only knows what would have happened to you if we hadn`t.” There was no God or he wouldn`t have let them take me. I got beaten for telling the truth. (I shouldn`t have told.) I got beaten for lying. (I should have kept my mouth shut.) Sometimes I wasn`t sure what I got the beating for, maybe for living.
I know everyone just wants to think all adoptions are a happy ever after event but the day my adoptive mother died I wanted to jump and shout for joy. I really believe my birth mother thought she was doing a good thing and putting me in a loving home and I hope, to this day, she still feels that way. – Carol W.
