Chicago’s WGN News shares with us this informational interview with non-profit group, Together We Rise. Founded in 2008 by a group of college kids after one of them learned his 9-year-old cousin was living in a car, this non-profit is focused on helping to change the lives of kids in foster care.

One of the obstacles to good foster care is good foster homes. Admittedly, it’s hard to bring children into your home and to love them, all the while working to reunite them with their birth families. Although many foster children become adoptable, the first objectives is to keep biological families together. But foster parents all over the country will tell you that while it may be difficult, it is rewarding.

Gianna Dahlia, a representative of Together We Rise, explains that one doesn’t have to be a foster parent to help make a difference. Fill a duffle bag for a foster child, put together a bike; babysit for foster families, take in a meal. There are lots of ways to help.  Each of us can make a difference!
