Jack Etgen’s mother was 25 years old and a widow when she gave birth to him. Already raising two other children, she felt the burden of responsibility with one more baby. The nurse convinced her to place her baby boy for adoption with one of the nurse’s friends. Jack grew up as an only child and learned after high school graduation that he was adopted.
Now, using social media Jack, 66, found his birth family with the help of his daughter. For two months Jack had phone conversations with his brothers. He learned that he has eight biological siblings and wasn’t the least bit nervous about meeting them in person. In fact, the reunion was much anticipated and was filled with as much emotion as can be imagined.
Jack’s siblings gave him their deceased mother’s ring as a memento and sign of their acceptance of him.
