The Virginia Beach Human Services Department has put out the call for more foster families. Anyone 21 or older is eligible to be a foster parent. There are currently 212 children in foster care in Virginia Beach with only 68 foster homes available.

There is a particular need for foster parents who will accept children with special needs. Individuals and couples in Virginia Beach interested in becoming foster parents will be asked to participate in a 9 week training class. Through the course, potential foster parents will be taught how to cope with children who have suffered trauma, abuse, and neglect. For more information contact Misty Lee at 757-385-3214.
