Biography

1938 -

American academic

Dr. Haas was born to an unmarried woman in Detroit, Michigan, and raised in Los Angeles, California. He has degrees fromStanford University and Yale University, and lectured in political science at California State University at Fullerton. He previously taught at the University of Hawai'i, Northwestern, Purdue, and UC Riverside. In 1986 he founded the Political Film Society and edits its newsletter. He has written over 30 books and over 100 academic papers.

He is retired, but tapes a weekly radio program on KCLA.

He is an advocate of adoptees knowing who their birth parents are. As an adult he traced his birth mother, but she had already died, and he has also traced other members of his birth family. [Last updated: 4 APR 2005]
