Biography

1916-1977

Actor

Finch's mother was married, but his father may have been (some sources say definitely was) another man. He was kidnapped from his mother's care by his legal father when he was two and sent abroad to live with a succession of relatives and friends, in boarding schools and communes in France, India, Sri Lanka and Australia. He did not see his mother again until 1948.

He appeared in A Town Like Alice, The Battle of the River Plate, The Pumpkin Eater, The Nun's Story and Sunday Bloody Sunday, among other films.
