Mason's father, a white trader, died in 1828 and she was raised by two different missionary families, rather than by her Cree mother, in [[Canada]]. <br />
<br />
She married a white minister in 1843 and in 1858 they emigrated to England, where she had nine children. <br />
<br />
She was the main translator of the Bible into Cree. She died of pleurisy shortly after finishing the project.<br />
