ADOPTION IN

Costa Rica
Costa Rica

Married couples hoping to adopt from Costa Rica must both be present to sign the needed paperwork at the beginning adoption proceedings. However, at the end, only one parent needs to be there. It is recommended that potential adoptive parents allow themselves at least 30 days to begin the process. Eligible adoptive parents must be between the ages of 25 and 60. In 2009, U.S. citizens adopted approximately 1 child from Costa Rica. Costa Rica is also known to provide comprehensive medical and psychological evaluations of children at referral.
