The 2022 Special Olympics USA Games are just around the corner—and adoption is being represented in a big way. Athletes, families, and friends from backgrounds in adoption are all coming together in Orlando, Florida June 5-12 for the 2022 Special Olympics USA Games. The Gladney Center’s Superkids Program is serving as a corporate volunteer at the games with a team of individuals within the adoption community.
Although the number of international and domestic adoptions has fluctuated over the past decade, the adoption of children with special needs has remained a constant. Despite the challenges they’ve faced, these adoptees have overcome so many obstacles and have gone on to do great things. The support that a community can offer to these adoptees and their families can make a huge difference.
The Superkids Program has been dedicated to service in international adoption for over a decade. The program has provided help to countless international adoptees whose lives have been improved through medical and rehabilitation services and continued advocacy. This work inspired Superkids’ participation in the 2022 Special Olympics USA Games. Adoptees and others touched by adoption are participating in the games in a number of ways.
Gladney has extended the invitation to interested volunteers who want to join in lending helping hands at the 2022 Special Olympics USA Games this year in Orlando, Florida. So far, a team of nearly 30 individuals has stepped up to volunteer at the games in June as greeters, check-in staff, catering assistance, and event support for tennis, golf, bocce, swimming, soccer, and equestrian events.
