I am trying to get the parental rights of my daughter's father terminated. We were never married. He has not seen his daughter for almost 2 years. My daughter is 2. He's been in a county jail for almost 1 year awaiting a jury trial for armed violence and various drug charges. I have heard that terminating parental rights in Illinois is one of the hardest things to do. Will the above circumstances make it any easier? Please, any help would be much appreciated!!
You really need to contact a lawyer who specializes in family law. I know it can be expensive but they can tell you what needs to be done.

You might try contacting your local branch of Legal Aid, if they have that in your state. They offer free or reduced cost legal representation... fees work on a sliding scale, depending on your income, I believe, and they specialize in family law. Best of luck, ~Sharon
I also looked into trying to terminate my sons fathers rights. I live in FL and was advised that you cannot terminate those rights unless he is a terrible terrible person. I was also told that child support is the childs right and nobody elses. What I was told made a lot of sense, however, my sons father is a deadbeat and has 2 other children he does NOT support! I honestly do not want anything from him other than his signature waiving his rights!!!
