If the adoption has NOT been finalized, and the adoptive family needs MY authorization to obtain a copy of the original birth certificate, does it stand to reason that it has not been sealed yet and I could still obtain it?
My reasoning is, besides the sentimental value, the copy that was sent for me to sign had multiple mistakes and omissions...most notably, the father's name. I would like to assure that that information is correct before I release a copy to the lawyer to have the adoption finalized.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
