In 1983, my husband and i adopted a beautiful 5 week old baby girl while we were still living in Olongapo. I was fortunet enough to get all of her family history. My daughter started asking about her biological mother and I told her I would help find her biological mother when she turned 18. After paying some big search companies and having no luck there, I tried searching on the computer. I asked and asked every Filipino I came accross about the place were my daughter was from and if they reconized her family name. No one did, but someone told me just to send a letter to her City and address it to the Mayor. That is what I did and just 4 weeks later I got a letter from my daughters biological Aunt. Unfortunetly, Her biological mother had never returned home after giving birth, but at least we found cousins, Aunts, Uncles....We are planning a trip to the PI this Jan. We plan to continue our search in Manilla for my daughter biological mother with the help of my daughter biological family. I feel that our search will have a happy ending.
Katcat,
Well, it seems that you may have all the info. that you need. Having to find the families in the PI is a good sign. I'm sure you'll find your daughter's biological mother. This journey will probably be a good experience, and a memorable one. I wish you, your daughter and family a happy journey and god bless to you all.
P.S. Don't forget to take pictures or video camera. :D

I was also adopted from Olongapo and I was wondering if you could post the address to the mayor so that I could try my luck. Thank you.
All I did was address my letter to :
The Honorable Mayor of Olongapo
Philippines, 6611
The Philippine postal system is much more simple than ours. This address will get you a good start.
I wish you much luck in your journey. When we make our trip to the Philippines I plan to visit Olongapo again. I'm going to try and look up some old friends the same way i found my daughter biological family.

I was orphaned at three days old and lived at King's Fil-Am on Coral Street Gordon Heights until 1981. Is anyone familiar with that orphanage?
If you are interested in sharing your adoption story please feel free to reply. I trying to build a network for Filipino adoptees since many of these sites and forums are for parents who have adopted.
