I have guardianship of my grandchild and have raised her since about 2 years of age, she is now 7. We would like to adopt her so she can have a definate family to call her own but I do not know the first place to start. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks:confused: :confused:

Start by locating an attorney who understands adoption well. Adoption of a relative is often much easier and requires less paper work, but that varies by state. An attorney can tell you if you need background checks or a homestudy. I would think, after five years, it would be fairly easy to do.
