I was born in Las Campanas hospital in Compton, CA on 8/27/1961.
All of the searches I have done find that it not only no longer exists, but the last event I can find at that hospital was in the 1930's.
Is this a pure figment of the system? I want to see about getting my hospital records, but have no idea where to begin.
Has anyone else found their Birth Cert has this hospital on it? If so have the records been archived elsewhere?
My un-relinquished sister was born in 1959 at St. Mary's in Long Beach. Wonder if they changed mine after the adoption so as not to tie us together???????

Have you checked out the address of the hospital to see if there is still a hospital at the same site under a different name? Many smaller hospitals "merged" with larger institutions and had a name change only. The records for the hospital before the merger often were transferred to the larger hospitals records storage site.

The last time I drove through Compton, about 1990, the hospital structure was gone and had been replaced by new buildings.
The location was the corner of Compton Blvd. and Wilmington.
My birth certificate indicates my birth at Las Campanas Hopital. It was obtained from the following:
