We are in the process of adopting a sibling group of 2. Our little princess, Julia has ben diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, and PTSD. Her brother is 18 months and appears to be develop, mentally on track. My question is: Is ther any hope of receiving positive results in an appeal to the MIchigan Subsidy office. We were dienied medical and support subsidies because of mistakes made by our adoption agency. Our worker failed to apply for the subsidies before the petition of adoption was filed. Julia really could use the medical subsidies especially, since she has vision problems along with her autism. We have 60 days to file an appeal. Has anyone appealed to the Subsidy office with positive results or is Julia's denial a done deal. Is the battle for subsidies worth hiring an attorney? We have hired an attorney to help us with grievences with our agency, but are at a loss as to what to do now. Any advice would be helpful. If you need any further information, please ask, I will be more than happy to explain the situation on greater detail.
I was wondering the same about the appeal process. We were denied subsidy for our child whom we had since birth (he's 1 now). How should I approach the appeal board to get a subsidy? Any insights? Thanks.

Contact the Ombudsman Office in Lansing - they are there to protect foster and adopted children in Michigan against abuse of the system.
This is the last number I have on them so the area code may have changed - 517-373-3077
Also, Michigan Children Inst. 517-373-3594
It is of no fault of yours but the agencies and they should be able to help.
