Hello. My name is Stephanie and I live in NC. I have 2 adopted children from Russia. I have been looking into adoption again and Samoa and the Marshall Islands have caught our eyes. My son is Kazah so looks Asian. We would love to have more children and were wondering about these countries. How's the process, how are the children, & mainly, how are the fees. I can't seem to get a direct quote on the estimated total cost of the adoption. Do any of you know how much? Is it comparative to Russian program or less? So many questions, but that's where I'll begin.
Thanks for any help.
Sincerely,
STehpanie.
Hi Stephanie - I looked into adopting from Samoa or the Marshall Islands before finding my son in Guatemala. Focus on the Children and one other agency that I know of ("something of the Heart", I believe?), deal with those countries. From what we found out, the cost is less than most other countries, but the travel is a bit more extensive, so I wonder if it doesn't balance out. Also, in some instances the adoptions are open because the Pacific Islanders are very picky about who their child is adopted by and how that child is raised. You may have to meet the birth parents and family members and have them get to know you prior to bringing the child home.
Good luck on finding info. Focus on the children can send you an info package which gives more details if you are interested.
