I'm going to marry my girlfriend and I needto know how to go about adopting her daughter.. the birth father never signed the birth certif. and is not in the childs life... I want to be this baby's father please help me

first get married, there is usually a period of time you need to wait before the courts will let you adopt (a year) have the other parent sign away his rights if he doesent care he will without a problem. it isnt that expensive but i recommend a lawyer you want everything done right before you stand before the court, in mass a stepparent adoption is around $750 depending on who your lawyer is.

Of course, that is probably for an uncontested adoption. My husband and I just did a contested adoption and it cost us $5000....but it was worth every penny.

I am sort of in the same situation my attny said that you have to be married and the child has to be living with you and your wife for at least 6 months. I got an estimate for a contested adoption of $2,500.00. I hope all goes well for you

Hi can any one help me here, i have been with my boyfirend since i was pregnant hes not my daughters real dad but he has brought her up and wants to adopt her i hear that u have to get the read dad 2 sign something? he isint on the birth c, and doesnt see me or my daughter, and im a bit worried because i no he wont sign anything just to be bad! what can i do to help this?
