I would like to start an online network for Filipino adoptees. I have noticed numerous websites for Kroean and Chinese adoptees but now would like to see one for Filipinos.
I would like to hear what some of your thoughts are on what you would like to see on the website. Please, if you have any suggestions, feel free to reply to this message. I would also like to hear other folks stories about adoption, in the U.S., UK, Australia or wherever you may be.
In Solidarity,
LC
PS - I was adopted from Olongapo City in 1981 when I was five years old. I had the opportunity to go to the King's Fil Am orphanage last summer 2003 and also met with the Intercountry Adoption Board (ICAB) http://www.skyinet.net/~icaba/
Incidentally, there is the 3rd International Conference for Adoptive Families of Filipinos. I would like to see a contingency of adoptees there too.
Hi,
My husband is a Filipino adoptee, adopted from the Hospicio de San Jose Orphanage in Manila. His story can be found at [Edited To Remove the URL to a fundraising website.] Sorry I couldn't tell him about your post yet, but he is asleep in bed, which I guess is where I should be, but oh well, I'm addicted to this site - a bit! Good luck with your search, we've already met a number of adoptees, and we have a letter from Dr. Lourna Laraya, MD director at ICAB, asking us to pass along the message of the global conference for adoptive families, back to back with the 3rd International Conference for Adoptive Families of Filipinos. The dates for it are August 10-16, 2005, and any and all people who are adopted, or who have adopted, or who are interested in adoption are invited!!! James will post the entire letter soon.

I actually sent an email to your husband but with no reply. Please let him know that I would love to be in touch with him. I am hoping to launch a website for Filipino adoptees in January 2005 with a very good friend of mine.
I met with Dr. Laraya last summer...she informed me about the conference and I hope that they will have a workshop or presentation on Filipino adoptees and post adoption services. My friend and I will be attending the conference in 2005.
Many thanks,
LC
Hi,
I guess the email never came through, neither of us has seen it - but I'll keep looking through the emails. If you'd like to pm me your email address, I'll give it to him, and he'll definitely write back. We are planning on going to the conferences, and James has been asked to speak at them, so hopefully we'll see you there!!

Hi, I just replied to an older post of yours.
I think an online network is a fantastic idea. I haven't seen a lot of Filipino adoptee or adoption forums around. I'd love to participate.
I was adopted in 1985, before I was born and thankfully, know parts of my story.
Again, feel free to contact me through email or reply.
