visition: how long????

my dh and i are going though visition of our to be adopted son and i was told 4 to 5 months before he could be placed in our home does that seem like a long time ???? what time frame did you have ?? wanting our son to come home to us, what insight does anyone have, is it going to actually take that long. thanks, erica
