Is there anyone out there that has or is adopting through an accredited Bulgarian agency without using an american agency as a go between? Please let me know what your experiences have been or are.
I am strongly considering using this accredited Bulgaria agency to process my Dossier. There fees are very reasonable(<10,000) and a second child is nominal. If anyone would like info or a contact number just PM me. I obtained the info on them from the US embassy site in Sofia.

Some of the Bulgarian agencies are doing their job really well. They finish the whole procedure and are responsible for everything except the home study. Good services I can say.
Some has web sites, so you can read more there.
The agency we used were in Sofia. They were awesome. If anyone would like additional information please pm me. They do have a website.
Thanks!

Hi,
American agencies do not have to be licensed, but the people they are working with in Bulgaria must be a Licensed Foundation.
This is what the US Embassy in Sofia explained to us when we called in May.
The US embassy site has the best and accurate info for adoptions in Bulgaria. It is a direct translation of the process dictated from the Bulgarian site. We are 40 and 48 respectively and our adopting a 2 1/2 year old boy. Our agency is wonderful and we are using a Bulgarian agency without US intervention or added cost. They have provided everything they have promised and there have been no extras charged to us. The cost has been much lower than Russia but you will not be getting a baby. The children will be a minimum of 18 months by the time you get them home. I believe that the 45 years difference is to the youngest parent. So you should be fine if you will be happy with a toddler.
Our cost is <10,000 agency and bulgarian fees(This includes translator, driver, legal fees, translation of documents, filing of documents etc). Our 1st trip travel costs was 1500(airfare for 2), $500(hotel, food, souvenirs and entertainment). We do not have the data yet for the 2nd trip. I believe my total cost start to finish will be <16000(HS,INS,Agency fee, country fee, travel,Visa, physical in Sofia)
