Hi I am an adoptee born 11/12/1970 possibly in Manila, but I was definitely adopted there. My mother's name may be Nita De Guzman and she may be Visaya. Any info I can get cannot be verified by anyone in my family.
Another problem I am having is that she may have just given me over to the Asuncion family and so there is no paper trail to follow. Any info or help in tracking down information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you and god bless you all.

You might try writing a letter to ICAB, and ask them for information, and to send it on to all the orphanages. There are 38 orphanages in the Philippines, and if you had any records (if you were even in one), that is where they would be. The nuns that care for the orphanages rotate, and someone might have heard of that name. It might be hard though to find records, because back then they didn't keep records very much. My husbands file only had 3 pages in it, and one of them was a letter from his parents (he was born in Dec. 1970). If you were simply "handed over", were you actually adopted? Do you have anything on it? If you copy what you have, and send it to ICAB as well, it would help them out in finding anything. Good luck!
