My daughter is trying to get her son back through the court system. We could lose our grandson who we have been raising now for over three years by December 1st of this year.By that time, we would have been raising our grandson half of his life (over three years). That would be devastating for our grandson for my daughter has a background of mental problems(on meds) and is sometimes unstable in her decisions. She married this past year to a man she met online who is from England. He has been verbally abusive to her and our grandson during visits at their apartment. In fact we had to stop the visits for the time being due to that. Not only would our grandson suffer emotionally living with my daughter and her new husband but they have a low income due to the fact she is the only one working at a low wage. Recently we found out she is now pregnant too. My daughter and new husband plan to return to England once she would get custody of our grandson. We would then lose all hope of helping him when he would need it. Our grandson is a very sensitive child that has had the best of love and stability with us, his grandparents. We would hate to see him go into such a hard lifestyle with our daughter and son-in-law.
ANY advice or help on the subject of adopting a grandchild would be most appreciated!
Thank you for your time!
Sincerely, Linda
