However, after reading all of the posts on this board, it seems there are many out there like myself who want to work in adoption, but not sure where/how to get started. I'm an adoptive mother of a child from Russia and have stayed current (the past 5 years) with the adoption process, updates, etc. (particularly international adoption). I've researched various options and am hoping somehow to convince a reputable adoption agency to give me a chance to help recruit families. I think educating the various communities on adoption where it is today is the key to getting families to commit but it's been difficult to get the agencies interested because they basically approach their recruitment as it comes in, instead of going out and educating the public. Small advertising here and there for info meetings, etc. is great, but what about those outlying areas -- not near the big cities -- that may have tons of interested families if they just knew how many children are available (worldwide) just waiting for their forever family! Just some thoughts of mine. I'm going to keep moving forward and hopefully be able to get an agency committed. (I also need a full time income so we'll see what happens). Any suggestions or comments would be GREATLY appreciated. Glad to hear there are others out there like me!
