We are adopting our 16mo. old son from Children's Shelter of Cebu in the Philippines. Our application was approved in the Philippines on March 26, 2003, we received referral of our son on June 8, 2004, so we waited almost 15mo. for a match. Believe me the wait was extremely difficult, but well worth it. Now we are waiting on the Embassy in Manila to receive our son's approved visa application. The National Visa Center said they mailed it out on Tues. 10-05-04, and we were told by them it could take 10 business days to be received at the Embassy. Does anyone know about how much longer it should be before we should travel. We are getting different responses. Our caseworker at our agency says we shouldn't have to wait any longer than 4-5 weeks, but the director at our son's orphanage says the Embassy is taking longer these days to notify ICAB about the visa processing. So, any reassurances, information, etc. is appreciated. Also, has anyone had any difficulty with their childs visa being approved, or know of any reasons why a visa would not be approved.
Hoping to travel soon,
gmiller

gmiller,
We too got the word that our children's I600 has been approved by BCIS. Have you heard from the Embassy in Manila of receipt of the approval? If so, how long did it take? I've been hearing that the Embassy is taking longer to process docs and scheduling of interviews. Is that true? Any info would help.
Thank you,
