My husband and I just finished our homestudy requesting two boys from the Philippines (2 yrs. or younger). We know that with the Philippine program children must be siblings to be adopted together, but with the amazingly affordable price of adoption through the Philippines, it seemed well worth it to try for two. But now that the wait times have increased a bit anyway, we're wondering if the wait for two will make this worse or better. Has anyone out there adopted young siblings? Was your wait the typical "about a year" or much longer? We're willing to accept most minor/and/or correctable medical needs hoping this will speed things up a little anyway.
Hi,
I'm excited for you to be adopting. However, the wait for two children under two will be at least a 1 1/2 year wait, if not longer, and that wait time is after you are approved by the Philippines. When we were there this past June, I asked the directors there about twins, and siblings that are young like that, and they said they absolutely have none right now. They have many sibling groups of children with one over age 6/7 and then a baby brother/sister, but no young groups. She said that usually if they have twins or a young group like that, they are able to adopt them there in the Philippines, or their parents only place them in an orphanage to be cared for until they can care for them.
You never know, though, twins could be being born right now, and you'll be the ones!
Hope all goes well for you.

We have read where some families were waiting for two children, but then were referred one child, and they accepted the referral. Do you know, will the Philippines do this, or will they wait until they have two boys for us before they send us a referral. Our homestudy says 1-3 children, preferably 2 boys under the age of two. Thanks for your quick past reply!
As long as it is very clear on your homestudy for 1-3 children, then you should be ok.
Our friends are adopting, and they requested twin toddlers, or an infant boy or girl. They were approved over a year ago, and until we got there in May/June, they were only looking at the twin part. We pointed out the single baby part too, and made sure they understood that they'd take either. They still haven't been matched yet, but they aren't expecting anything for a while because of the unavailability of young children in the Philippines. They were asked if they'd take a sibling group of a 7 year old, and I think a three year old, but they declined because they already have a seven year old daughter.
Good luck to you!
