Dear all interested adoptive parents:
I have been involved in a program called "Summer Miracles" that fundraised and brought 15 older filipino orphans and sibling groups to Montana for a summer camp. They found host or advocate families for all of them and planned out "camp" experiences for everyone. We went rafting, art, boating, swimming, sport lessons, etc... and just had fun. Along the way all the children had a memorable experience and most of the children found a family wanting to adopt them. It has now been 3 months since the kids went back and some of the families have been approved by ICAB already and are in the last stages of adoption! The program is in its infancy (first year was summer 2004) and it is not perfect since we did not place 100 %.
For my family, last spring we were a happy family of four (2 parents, two bio who just happened to be in church one Sunday when a slide show of filipino orphans was displayed and the program presented. And now, if all goes well, our family will grow from 2 to 5 kids very soon!
Please consider an older child or a sibling group. There are many wonderful kids out there, waiting for homes.
Sincerely,
My home is in montana and montana is my home,
LB

I would be very interested to learn more about this program! I assume the hosting families have to be in Montana? I wonder if a similar program could be started out here in California?
How exciting that your own family may grow. You must be very excited!
I'm a single mom which means the children I am 'eligible' to adopt would be ages 4 and over (ICAB rules). I hope you will share more information about your journey with your 'older' children.
I'm a member of the Yahoo Philippines group as well. There might be folks there who would be interested in the hosting program as well.
