I just wanted to recommend a book called "The Bean Trees" by Barbara Kingsolver. I thoroughly enjoyed the story about a young girl who unexpectedly becomes a mother to a Cherokee baby. Anyone else ever read this book?
Hi...I know you posted this a while ago, but I wanted to tell you about my experience with this book. I was required to read it in high school and you know how that is always so dreaded!!! Anyway, I read this book and I have never NEVER let go of it. I absolutely love it. I actually heard there is another book that is kind of like a "part two" to it and I was interested in finding out more about it. Actually, I should find it and put it on my "to get" list for the library.
This is a very good book and I would highly recommend it to anyone!
Thanks for reminding me about it...I should reread it...it's THAT good!

Barbara Kingsolver is a great author. Pigs in Heaven centers on a challenge to the adoption of Turtle. Taylor did something illegal to adopt Taylor, not knowing how else to go about it. I read this one long before I was considering adoption.
While the books do not describe a typical adoption experience at all, they are a joy to read. Just be sure to do yourself the favor of looking up the rest of her work. And if you decide to tackle "Poisonwood Bible", just know it is much heavier than the rest of her work, but still a pleasure if you are ready for it.
