Hey Pam! THis is Julie from Chilliwack. We are waiting, like so many of you for a match from ICAB. We were approved in April 04. My inlaws run an orphange in Northern Luzon (non-adoptive) and in March my son and I are going to go visit them there. I would like to go and say HEllo to my social worker at ICAB but am not sure how it would be received... Anyone have any advice?
(I posted this already but didn't see it on the board so forgive me if it is a repeat!)

Congratution ! My wife and I are from Vancouver, BC.
Philippines Airline offer direct flight from Vancouver and Manila four times a week. The flight leave around 11:15 to 11:45 pm abd arrive in the Philippines around 4:30 am, quite ealier !
It was a good flight. You got on the plane and sleep. You wake up and you are in the Philippines. Do you have anyone picking you up from the airport ?
It takes quite a while for you to get to Northern Luzon and the road up there are quite challenging for the driver.

ICAB is at Quezon City, upon arriving in Manila , you may need direction from airport information. Taking a taxi in Manila for a stranger for the first time in the Philippines is quite risky.I advice you have someone in the Philippines who will pick you up from the airport and take you to ICAB. ICAB office is not big.
My mother and father in law actually have lived in Northern Luzon for five years... so they will be taking us . They know the "ropes". I am excited to go- since I have never been. I really want to get a good idea of the culture. My husband too, has lived in the Phillipines (for a year). So it is only I who has never been. :)

Philippines cultures are very diverse. There are lots of new and very interesting things can be learnt there. Have very great trip !
