Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations for adoption agencies. Does anyone have any feedback or comments regarding VIDA? (They're the only ones listed with ICAB in my area, NJ) Must the agency be the closest to me physically? Does the Phillipino adoption process require an agency, or is it just that it is highly recommended? (Is it possible to do it on our own, or is that just asking for trouble?) What is a reasonable price to pay for an agency. VIDA says that they cost about $6500. Is that about right? Lastly, my wife has relatives in the Phillipines. Can that help the process for us at all? Just starting the process and wanna be informed! I know I'll have more questions, but this is a good place to start. Thanks! Tim & Marie

Welcome!
Please feel free to pm me if you want detailed information on everything you'll need to do to adopt from the Philippines! You can go with any ICAB certified agency in the U.S., and that is a very low cost (however I have never heard of their agency). We paid $6,900, and that was the lowest we found when we were looking.
The Philippine adoption process absolutely, positively requires an ICAB certified agency. Whatever you do, go by their rules, and do not try to deviate from them.
Having relatives there probably won't help much, except for the fact that they'll like that you might know more about their people. Unless you or your wife are Filipino, and that helps a great deal!!
Good luck!
Let me know if I can be of more help. Please pm me though as I do not visit the forum very often now - I've pretty much become a taxi for my little darlings!
