We have just started our process. We really would like to adopt a waiting child who is nine years old. Our agency said that would be faster, turns out I have two bio children age 5 and 8. They said it is there policy not to place an older child in the house. Have you ever heard of such a thing? My friend called the social worker in the Philippines and we sent a package to the boy and a box of toys to the orphinis, knowing that if someone applies before us they my get him. The social worker has been very nice to us. Do you know of an angency to use? We live in Calfornia.
What agency are you using??? You cannot choose what child you want to adopt from the Philippines, the Government matches you with a child. Every ICAB certified agency knows this, so make sure yours is. Yes, I have heard of it, they do not want to disrupt the order of the family. Be careful, if the ICAB thinks you are trying to "go around" their rules they will throw away your application for adoption. Good luck.
