Our CW told us the county will meet in 2 weeks to set up interviews for a teen we are interested in adopting. Can anyone tell us what to expect from the interview with the team, when we would expect to meet the child, and how visits work when we live about 5 hours from the child? Are there general procedures about this or does is vary wildly county-by-county? Obviously, this is quite new to us. Thanks!

Hi. We've only gotten one referral for a 4 year old and what happened was we went to the office of the children and youth services and sat down with the referring SW, our SW and a supervisor. We were presented with his profile and were told EVERYTHING they knew about him, about the visits they had had with him and answered any questions we had. At that point they asked if we were still interested and they set up an appointment for us to go meet him in the foster home he currently lived in. With your referral being a 12 year old they will probably not make you travel to her home, they may have you meet in a more convenient location for all of you.
Best of luck.
