Medicaid in PA

New to foster care service...noticed on another thread someone mentioned that I should look into which doctors who take Medicaid..is this a big problem..also suggested to look up therapist's history before moving forward..what is the process for this...My DH and I live in the Philadelphia Area, close to Montgomery county...any suggestions are appreciated.

I live in PA also, Allegheny county. I'm always amazed when I read about some of the hard times people have had with medicaid and finding doctors etc.

Here, it's extremely easy. There are a few different Medicaid providers and either you or the caseworker picks one. What I normally do is call the member services number on the back of the card and ask them for help selecting a pediatrician or whatever kind of specialist I need.

The list of providers is usually so long we sort them by address so I can pick one that is close to where I live. This process is even the same when it comes to selecting a therapist or other mental health provider.
