Taxes and your Foster Child

Though this is my first year, my understanding is that: we don't pay any taxes on the per diem we can claim them as long as they are in the home 6 months (mine moved in 6/17 what timing!) HTH Diane

Per diem is non-taxable and yes, the law has been changed for this year to 6 months. Not everyone is aware of the changes and may tell you it is that foster children have to be with you all year but that was for 2004.
