I've been lurking on the boards for a while now, but now I'm in urgent need of advice.
I'm in Region 8 and need a respite provider. My agency (who I'm not very happy with right now) just told me they didn't have anyone.
Where do I go from here? Has anyone found a respite provider on their own?
TIA

I was told by my agency (so this might be wrong) that I could only use a respite family that is currently with my agency.
Depending on how long you need, could you get a backup care taker certified? I know people that have gotten certified they had to take a few classes, get CPR certified, background check and few other things.

We had someone lined up and unfortunately they backed out. My agency says all their homes are full and they've even looked in other regions. I just feel like we're left we no place to turn. This is the 1st time I've requested respite, I had no idea it would be this stressful (ironic, respite is supposed to provide rest and recovery).
I don't know if I'm allowed to do this, but we've been waiting for just over a month for a child. We have 2 beds available and no foster children. We're good for respite, foster adopt, legal risk, foster care, etc. Respite would be nice. We live in Region 8.... I don't know how to Private Message anyone....
I don't know how to proceed from here....
I also think that it's usually specific to your agency. I think this needs to be fixed. It shouldn't matter. The kids are what matters, it shouldn't matter what agency you belong to. But I have heard that.

Thanks ladies for your help and generous offers! I finally had to get TOUGH with my agency and threaten to bring the kiddos to the caseworker's house in order for them to get serious about helping me. Long story short, the original family that agreed to help backed out because of daycare. I offered to pay the daycare expense and problem solved! Overall it was poor communication that caused all this worry and stress. Now that I have things under control, I am working on finding a family member that can get approved to provide respite in the future. THANK YOU ALL!!
