I am new to this so I have lots of questions.
What is the average fee adoption agencies pay pregnant mothers? Do I need to match it or pay the pregnant mother anything beyond medical expenses?
Are you expected to pay the pregnant mother's living expenses while pregnant? I am afraid of scammers pretending to be pregnant.
If the pregnant mother does not have health insurance, but qualifies for free Medicaid, can you request her to enroll (to save on expenses plus if there are any complications with the baby).
What are the average attorney and court fees for private adoption? Do the court proceedings need to happen in state pregnant mother lives or state you live? Are there problems when adopting out of state?

Mothers are not paid a fee for carrying the baby, or for the baby itself.
It is dependent on the state as to which expenses may be paid by prospective adoptive parents for the mother, as well as the total amount that can be paid. This money is NOT contingent on her choosing adoption after the baby is born. Only agree to pay what you can afford to throw away.
Your agency should be helping the mother apply for Medicaid if she qualifies and isn't on it.
Fees to the agency vary widely - some are a sliding scale based on income - some are flat fees. Off the top of my head - $10-$20 thousand PLUS expenses and perhaps additional lawyer fees or counselling fees for the mother AND the father...
Post on the first Adoptive Parent Support forum - it gets more traffic.
Kind regards,

Fees will vary according to the state that you are adopting from. This link might help give you a place to start. Adoption Costs - Birthmother, Costs, Fees, Requirements, Travel
Thanks. I did not know I had to work with an adoption agency if I found a mother on my own? If I found a mother on my own, I would only be required to pay the attorney/court fees and medical expenses (if the mother does not have health insurance)?
I also do not know if I am required to have a home study if I am not working with an adoption agency. I do not know if only an attorney would be required...if working with an adoption center would also be required.
You are still required to have a home study even if you aren't working with an agency.
You don't have to work with an agency, but you should make sure the emom is receiving counseling and knows all her options if you aren't. She should also have a SW to work with her that you pay for rather than all contact between just you two. It will save you headaches later, trust me.
