Let me give you a bit of history, so you can understand where Im at mentally right now. In early 2005, I began gathering the necessary information to adopt my step-son. (I married his mother in June of 2003.) After doing a ton of research and some helpful threads on this very forum, I filed on May 25, 2005. We filed assuming that the bio-father would sign the voluntary relinquishment of right form. (He bailed on my wife during the pregnancy, and has never met my son, who is 12 now.) To make a really long story short, the bio-father has refused to sign the form. Actually, he has refused to do anything. He will not return phone calls from my sonҒs amicus attorney. We know that he was served, but have received no response what so ever. So now, it is May 17, 2006. I am trying to find the proper forms to file so that the petition now centers on the abandonment clause [161.002 (b)] in the Texas Family Code. Im starting to understand why lawyers spend 10 years in school҅ it takes that long for the legal code to make any sort of sense. In any case if one of you happens to have the petition of termination and adoption- and wouldnŒt mind sharing it, I would be EXTREMELY grateful. This has taken what seems like forever I really wish at this point that we could have hired an attorney. But alas, financially it is not possible. I make enough to support my family, but not enough to write a œBIG check any time soon. Thanks for listening! Joel
