:cheer: I havn't been on this site for a while just taking a break from my last fd who went home to stay, but i'm happy to anounce that I will be picking up another fd from the hospital tomorrow they'll show me how to feed her because she's premature, 4lbs. It's been a long time since I held a baby that small, and this will be my first one at just 2 weeks of age, God answers prayers doesn't he? I got so excited the first time she called that I forgot to ask the babies name:woohoo:. she called back and told me. This is going to be a challenge because I never had a premature child before so you all will have to help me out sometimes, ok?

That is fantastic. If she is two weeks old and they are letting her go, she must have not been that premature. My wife was 2 lbs when she was born and spent 6 months in the hospital. That of course was a long time ago, but she turned out just fine,(well better than fine:wings: ). Have fun. Get some extra sleep now you are going to need it.

Congratulations on your new FD:cheer: what a wonderful thing to happen :woohoo: .My husband and I foster children 0-2 yrs old I've felt extreamley blessed to have each and everyone of our 9 babies .We just gave up our 5 month old FD, whom we've cared for since she was 10 days old back to her biological grandmother yesterday morning .So at the moment we are currently empty and on the list for our next placement.
Congrats!! We do children 0-4 for the most part. The tiny ones are soooo wonderful. The smallest baby we had was 3lbs 12oz. She was 2 weeks old - a premie but she was eating well and her stats were good so they released her. We've had several really tiny babies. They are lots of work since they ARE so tiny. BUT I DO LOVE THEM SO!!! Many, many feedings, real close together. I really think that's the big difference. I also took a "baby massage" course that seemed to help as far as soothing. Depending on the reason she is so small - there might be issues - now days it seems like the tiny babies are drug babies and they have seperate issues of their own!! Right now we have a challenging sibling group. Placement knows that to get me to offer up for a sibling group - it needs to have a baby in it :D :cheer: Have fun with your new addition!!

Congrats!!!! How tiny. I have never had a preemie so not much help here. But we do have a medical fragile baby. It has been tons of work. I feel like the Dr. office is a second home to us. This month I have been there twice a week. We can not have a feeding schedule, due to her burning calories so fast that she gets hungry faster. So even though she is nine months now she still wakes up twice at night for feeding. But I do love her soo much and even though its a lot of work I would never change it. Good luck and keep us posted.
