Hi, All!
I was wondering if anyone knew of any nationwide websites that refer adoptive parents to counselors? I would really like the help of a professional psychologist to help us with our situation.
I had a meltdown with my mother-in-law this weekend and all of the hostility and negativity that surrounds us regarding our open adoption by the people we love is starting to really wear on me. Are we really making the right decision as to the level of openness? I'm questioning myself and my decisions. I'm confused and need help.
Are there any resources out there for professional counseling for adoptive parents? I have searched the internet and find tons of resources for birth parents, but not adoptive. I really want to see someone who specializes in the field of adoption. I am sure that I can find someone through my medical insurance, but I doubt that they would have that expertise.
Any help would be appreciated!

Karen: You might try calling the social worker that did your homestudy. A lot of SWs also do counseling, or have access to counseling resources. Maybe they can help you find someone in your area.
Thank you so much for your responses and PMs. They are very helpful and I will take advantage of them! :)
