I am an adult adoptee. I was adopted by my step dad yesterday. He has been my dad for the last 26 years and we all wanted it official. :love: I was wondering how long it takes for the new birth certifacate? My husband and I are also trying to adopt and we are in the application process.

This really depends on your state. Some states are quicker than others when it comes to official paperwork. If you have not sent off the form requesting the new birth certificate, than you can call and see if they have a rush order service (usually much more expensive) which can have the new certificate in your hands in a matter of days. But usually it is about 4-6 weeks. Some places go faster, but that would be the average.
