Hello, I live in Quakertown Pennsylvania. Where is evryone else from. Ok I need advice....My husband and I have a 2 1/2 year old son who we adopted in 2005 from Kazakhstan. We planned on adopting again soon probably a domestic adoption. I am always online looking at pictures of children who are available. I saw two little girls from another state that we completely fell in love with. They have been in foster care for almost two years and are NOT legally free for adoption yet. My question is what do I do to try and get info on how to adopt them? Do I contact their caseworker? Get a homestudy? Please help I can't stop thinking about these girls.:thanks:

You need to locate an agency you wish to work with (private or county). Attend their information/orientation nights. This will let you know what type of things they provide and if they will meet your needs (i.e. interstate adoption, type of children they usually receive/place, etc). Then complete the training, physicals, clearances, paperwork (autobiography, etc), and the homestudy. Those two girls' (or actually their picture) may have brought you into starting this process, but by the time you are done, they may not still be available. From start to finish, it could take you 2 to 6 months to be licensed. It's also a good chance to read and get a better understanding of what issues kids in fostercare may have vs what you may have had with your international adoption. Im in Dauphin county (harrisburg), so not near you enough to give any local inforamation.
Hi, Just east of you... You need an agency to work with first and that will eventually lead to information. Case workers are protective of the children. I found that just being in contact via private email with others in the area can often help. Many of us are looking at and have looked at the same kids or have seen them at matching events and already have information that can be shared.

Hi - I am about 45 minutes south of you. Social workers will not speak to you without a homestudy and classes being completed.
