starting a new thread, I guess. DH and I are from Long Island. If anyone visits this thread, trying to find out who else is on long island and where you are adopting from. We are adopting from Guatemala. Hopefully something can be started, i.e., get together, etc.

My husband and I are just starting the process. We're interested in adopting from China. We live in Suffolk.
christophersmommy, I'm interested in hearing about your experiences with domestic adoption. It's something we haven't considered. Too many people have told us too many horror stories.
Thankfully we had a really easy time of it. We were certified in July and started advertising. My son's birthparents called us on August first. We talked a few times and then hadnt heard anything further from them. Thankfully we didnt pay any expenses at that point. Well September 10 the bp's called us again and said he had been born and they wanted us to adopt him so we went out and picked him up. So for us it was 6 weeks.
We had heard as well from lots of people that a cc newborn would take a while but we were lucky. We also had a pretty big ad budget.
PM if you want more info or would like a referral to my attorney.

I think she can give birth anywhere. Has she contacted your attorney? Just we wary of her wanting to come to you to give birth - hopefully she just wants to make it easy on you - but it could also be the sign of a scam. Just be careful

Just wondering how you new yorkers are doing. it has been a little while since I posted here. It has been a little crazy around here for DH and I. We have been keeping ourselves busy with getting things done around the house and unfortunately we had to put one of our dogs down. It was very hard to do especially for DH. Our dog was 17 years old.
OUr daughters case has been in PGN since 3/28. Even though it has on only been a week I can't stand the wait. OUr sons case we are waiting for DNA test and family court interview to be done.
Hope all is going well for everyone.
Hi All,
I hope your PGN stays are all speedy! We are on the Directors desk hoping for an OUT this week. We've been in and out of PGN since Beginning August last yr so enough is enough right?
We live on the upper west side BTW! I hope you are all coping OK with the storms we are currently having. It sure is a washout!

Hi, my husband and I are starting the adoption process and I stumbled on this thread, happily and accidentally. We also live in Ronkonkoma and are looking for referrals and any information ie costs, advertising, agencies, private etc etc. There are so many questions and they just seem more and more difficult to answer since we live in New York state.
I look forward to hearing from you!
Anna Maria :)
Hello all New Yorkers. It has been some time since I posted. It has been a busy year for us. Our son has been home since 10/25/07 (it will be a year this saturday that he will be home); and our daughter has been home since 12/11/07. We adopted both our children from Guatemala. Our daughter will be turning 2 tomorrow (10/22/08) and our son will be turning 2 on 12/18/08). We had started our readoption process in march 2008. Well good news!!!! Received a phone call from our attorney today and our court hearing for our readoption is 10/31/08 (Halloween). I can't believe it.:grouphug:  :cheer:
