I want to adopt my husband's 5 year old son. BM agrees and will sign a consent form. I have info from the Iowa State Law Library and I have some sample forms that I have written up, I am just wondering if they will be good enough for the court. I don't want to go in to this will false information or documents. BM and us want this done asap, she doesn't want to pay childsupport. I guess I am just wondering if anyone out there has had any success in a situation like this, doing it on your own, no lawyer. Was it easy, hard, what? Any info would be greatly appreciate. I want MY son, to be legally mine! He doesn't know anyone else, she has walked out on him time and time again and I want to make sure it doesn't happen again! Thanks in advance!
