I have another court date at the end of the month. The CS is hoping for termination of rights at that time. If that happens how long does the adoption process take??
I have had L since she was two weeks old and I am currently a foster to adopt parent. The process is so overwhelming at this times - seems like lots of hurry up and wait. The problem with our case is that L was not taken because of neglect but because the of the parents inability to parent.
So any advice on what will happen if termination occurs - I would love to hear.

How long have you had L? Have there been any relatives that have expressed an interest? I just find the cases where the parents are just incapable of parenting so sad. To me, the neglect and abuse cases are cut and dry--hard to muster up any sympathy for the parents. But those that just can't parent and love their kids just break my heart. I would think that unless L has been in your care for under 6 months and if there are no outstanding family members than you would be the first choice.

I have had L since she was 2 weeks old - she is 5 months old now. There are family members that won't her but they have all been proven unfit as well. It is a sad case. One of my concerns is I am single at this time - but am engaged I am wondering if I marry if it will delay the process at all.
Are you planning on adopting L? If so, is your fiancee on board with your fostering and adopting. If this is your "calling" it may be a good idea to get your fiancee to become involved in the liscensing process. I am not sure how marriage would affect the adoption. I do know that they ask you to not begin foster care classes within a year of an significant death. I have know these to include death or a move but I am not sure the feeling on marriage. In addition, you have had L for 5 months, so you are not begining to foster, you already are. They certainly should consider the bond between you and the baby. Moving her unneccesarily would be detrimental to her welfare. I have always been under the impression that caseworkers try to keep the moves to a minimal. It would be understandable if she was moved to a suitable family placement. It would not be understandable for them to move her from your home to another home if you want to adopt her.

Clarification-- I meant to say that they ask you not to start foster care classes within a year of a significant event, such as a death or moving.
