I am a former foster child. Me and a friend of mine, also a former foster child are trying to start a magazine specifically geared towards the teens in the foster care system. We are looking for their experiences, poems or songs they have written, or any artwork they would like to submit. Also, any advice you as foster parents may have for them. Our goal is to provide them with hope for their futures, that they don't have to end up as just another statistic. Also, to just remind and reassure them they are not alone. You and your child can remain completely anonymous. If you have any ideas or suggestions, we would love to hear those as well.
Feel free to email us at fosteraware@yahoo.com
Thanks. I look forward to hearing from you.:thanks:

I can't help you directly as I am not a foster child, but wanted to say Bravo! and encourage you in this and the magazine pursuit. It may be difficult to find former foster children. I suggest contacting FAPA to put the word out through fparents who may still have contact. Also, there must be some national association of caseworkers that might put the word out to its members to, in turn, tell children who are aging out. If you go through such organizations, it would probably be helpful to be able to give them a short announcement blurb with all contact info that they can simply copy and pass on. Good luck!
