Hello -
I am trying to find out where around central florida we can take MAPP classes?
we are willing to go to different counties --
our county is FULL and are not putting mapp classes on till 2009!
please let me know?
many thanks!
Curious which county are you located in? I cant answer your question but I was going to call to see what I need to do in Polk County. I am a little scared that maybe they have plenty of foster parents by your post.

Hello!
I am a former foster parent in Polk County. We were foster parents for 20+ years and stopped fostering last year. In Polk County we always need foster parents and they have on going MAPP classes. Usually as soon as one is completed another one starts. Look up heartlandforchildren.org for more information and the date of the next orientation class.

Thanks for the info. How busy is polk county? Is it hit and miss or are there alot of kids needing homes? i am looking at ages 0-4 possibly up to 5 yo. My Hubby and I would like to become licensed to foster & adopt so if the chance comes along to adopt we will be ready.
In Polk County they no longer do "foster to adopt". But there is a GREAT need for foster families. Many times the same day you get approved, you get kids! For more information go to heartlandforchildren.org
That is the placing agency for Polk County.

There is a MAPP class starting this month (Jan 09) in Polk County. I don't know if it is too late to register, but we just received our invitation yesterday. It is being tought by Heartland for Children out of bartow.
Also if you call the "more information" number on the DCF adoption page they will give you the number to an office close to you that teaches the MAPP classes.
