For those of you who do therapeutic/treatment foster care, do you use any specific parenting techniques, ie: 123 Magic and such to deal with the problem behaviors? My agency did behavior management training in preservice but it was pretty generic. I ask this because I used to work for a child welfare agency and I know the techniques they used are pretty successful when dealing with problem behaviors. I was thinking about using them since they are very much about teaching the kids basic social skills like accepting no, disagreeing appropriately, following instructions, and what not. I just wanted to know from the troops in the trenches what has or hasn't worked for you.
