I am looking for my daughter that I put up for adoption April 5, 1986. She was born in Kokomo, Indiana. She weighed 6 lbs. 5 oz. She was born at St. Joseph Hospital in Kokomo, Indiana. Catholic Charities has since moved out of Kokomo. I have been looking for several years with no luck. I have heard that Catholic Charities will sometimes change birth records to protect the children, and while I understand the reasons for this it does make it very difficult for reunions. If you were born around this date please email me.

I know it has been a long time since you posted this, although I thought I would answer just incase you come back or someone else might be able to use the answer.
St. Elizabeth Coleman in Indianapolis is not the "main" Catholic Charities in Indiana, if you google it you can get their address and phone number.
They do search and reunion services. They do cost a fee that covers the cost of the worker that does the search and reunions.
My brother and I, he is the 60's and myself in the 70's were both adopted through Catholic Charities. Neither of our birth information was changed and the non-id information that our parents received was EXACTLY correct according to our birthmothers, we have both found them.
A lot of things have changed between the 70's and 80's although I would be shocked to find out that they changed birth information in the 80's. They were one of the first agencies to work with open adoptions in the 80's.
Hope this helps!!!

Hi- I used to live in Indianapolis area some years back and I facilitated an adoption triad support group in that area. I know persons who helped with adoption searches, so feel free to PM me a message and hopefully I can put you in touch with persons who can encourage me. Blessings, Jody

I was adopted through catholic charities in kokomo. I was born april 5 1986 at st. joesephs hospital. I think the records from cc kokomo were transferred to another agency in ohio. I forget the name but I think it was 'elizabeth' something.

I think lorif may be my birthmother but im worried she doesn't use this site anymore. thanks![/QUOTE]We received and email on Dec 11 from a young lady named Callie who found my information on forums.adoption and emailed me. After contacting her and finding out the similarities we continued to talk. Six days later we drove over to see my beautiful daughter, it was the most amazing day. The family that raised her are truly amazing people my husband and I are forever in the debt, we owe them so much for taking such great care of our Callie. After 23 years I was able to hold my baby girl in my arms once more. I just wanted to let you all know that there is hope, I have been blessed so much by this reunion my baby is such a wonderful woman. She is married to a wonderful guy and has three beautiful children. I want to thank God for his guiding hand in all of this. This is why we are prolife because we always have that hope of one day meeting out children, thanks to all of you mothers who choose to give life to your baby. All my fears that I have had for the last 23 years vanished within the first 5 minutes of meeting her and her family. I could not have scripted it any better. Callie I love you so much honey. (Forum.adoption.com you rock) Thank you cjbunch for being you.
