I am searching for my sister who was born in Columbus, Ohio in the 1950's. The only other information I have is that my mother lived with nunn's until she had the baby. I have no idea where to start. Any suggestions of how to get started?
thank you!
You might start by contacting the agency that handled the adoption. Since you have posted here, I am assuming that is Catholic Charities. There may be a fee involved.
There are also search angels that you can utilize for little or no money.
Good luck in your search!

Hi!
I noticed from your profile that you are in OH. If you live pretty close to Columbus you can go to Vital Statistics and search for your sisters birth using your mothers maiden name.
The births on our OH birth Index starts in 1959-89 and the only way I can search for her is if she was born after 1959.
If you think she may have been ....email me your mothers maiden name and I will search 1959 for you.
If you do go to Columbus you need to call them and make an appointment to search those old records. I believe they will be on Microfiche. And they are by alphabetical order.
One good thing is if your sister ever tries to locate you she can get her original birth certificate because she was adopted before Jan 1, 1964.
Blessings
