My DH and I got our children in October. We are fostering to adopt. We are suppose to get our court date soon, but looks like it will be on May 5 . My question is, can anyone tell me what we should expect. I mean what will we do? Do we bring the kids with us? How does it work. Just so excited and want to know....thanks. :woohoo:
We have taken ours once to court for the Mother to sign the child over to us. We will go back on Friday for another signing in front of the judge and we will take her again. She's 18 months old. CW said to bring her because the judge likes to see the families together and if she is there they will put us at the front of the docket.

Well, I am going to disagree with CaddoRose about taking kids to court. I don't think it is a place for children to be unless absolutely necessary. I can't imagine trying to chase my toddler FS up and down the halls for hours while waiting. That's not even taking into consideration the stress court usually puts on me. I am always nervous (our FS is a concurrent placement).
As to what to expect: It depends on the kind of hearing/trial, where you are in the case plan, who shows up, where you live, and many, many more things. What kind of hearing is it?

It is our adoption finalization hearing. We will sign papers and they will be ours forever!
Well, yes, they should be there for that! Sorry, I didn't know it was that far into the case:) congrats!
