I am just wondering what is the average age that everyone is getting foster calls on in Pennsylvania.I was told before that it was over 6 ,but reading these post it looks like the children in care are getting younger.
I am anxious and still waiting for my :phone: to ring !!!!!

Thanks! DH and I talked and we agreed to put our homestudy in for them. Our C/W was very excited we will at least look at them. We have not said yes yet...BUT we are going to keep an open mind. He also told us that many people will adopt 2 kids, maybe 3..but he said it is unheard of to hear a family who would consider all 4! So he feels if we are interested that we would have very little competition. Which is good and bad...as if they aren't a good match for whatever reason..it is going to make me sick to say no. I know DH and I are being more selective of WHO we choose and more then anything want to follow what God wants for our family. We wonder HOW our kids will feel having to share us with that many kids..but we have talked to them and they seem excited at even the slightest possibility that they could have more brothers and for the first time,a sister. Hopefully today, we will get more information on them..so we can know if they are a TRUE possibility or not. I know the ages are great for us. We put in for 2-7..their EXACT age group. We finally got to the point we were beginning to open ourselves up to an infant...and though I love babies...I just thought because of our age and WHERE we are right now with our current kids...that this age group would fit right in with us better. We are active, love to go to family fun places, amusement parks, etc so that is why we chose these ages. I joke with my hubby that what would he do if we DID adopt these 4 and then I found I was pregnant..he just laughed and said "then we would have 7 kids." He seems open to it which is scary..and even came home with a spreadsheet of our current finances and how we could work them into our life from a financial perspective and he had a list composed of what we would need to buy, change to add more kids to our home. He even spoke of in 2+ years of building another home to fit all the kids. I can say I was a bit shocked an nervous that he was sooooo open. He also brought up the idea of a new van that seats up to 8-9 people. I have no opinion right now if this will be the KIDS for us..but I can say this much...in a short amount of time..my DH sure had a plan in place JUST IN CASE! I don't know what to think..but am I expecting they WILL be the ones...probably not...as in the last months..there is always one thing that is an absolute no after we get more info...BUT if they were the ONES..oh my goodness....I never would have thought..God would want us to have that many more! That will be a huge surprise and shock! I will keep you posted on things. And will be sending lots of prayers and warm wishes your way. I have been talking to you so much these last weeks that I feel like I already know you...so I want so much to hear you say....you got THE CALL! I so hope it is soon cause I am going to be soooo excited for you! God Bless!

I so am hoping that soon we BOTH will receive the right match. I can say though one thing...that I have soooo gotten an education during this process. I have such an appreciation and deep respect for those people out there who have waited years for THEIR child. It is tiring and emotionally draining. Now it is such a waiting game. But after hearing the rest of responses on this website that it seems I am going to have to put our home-study in a lot to even have any chance...so that is what I have begun to do just 3 months ago. WOW....but in the end..it will be so worth it!

just go a call but the child is out of our age range.Seems they are only calling me for the older children that are harder to place. I know that in 3+ months time they have gotten at least 1 child under 14:hissy:
DH and I are beginning to think again that becasue of the issue with the girls they are not trying to place younger children in my home. I feel this is wrong because they know that nothing happened and even the county caseworker knows this.
When I ask them they say all they are getting are older children.
In 3 months I have gotten 2 calls and 1 email and all of the children were MUCH older then what we told them.
So here I am, SITTING BY THE PHONE AGAIN,now that I know its not broken awaiting the call for the child the LORD wants me to have.

From the outside looking in, it sure looks like God is providing calls, and children, and you are saying no to them. Is it possible that God is calling you more for teenagers? Sometimes your will and God's may not be the same... which takes precidence?

HI: I am reading some posts to learn more about foster adopt--my husband and I are with an agency and approved but have never receive any calls, matches, anything. You mentioned in your post "have called about at least 6 more on our own". How do you get info on who is available for foster-adopt that allowed you to call? I only see the SWan site and there are no children under 5 (our son is going to be 4 so we can only adopt 4 and under). Am I missing something?? I wish I could be proactive, but not sure what to do? Thanks so much, Kathleen

Nope. We have been approved for 5 months. There are currently 3 families with the county that have no children and there are several families that are not full. Intake worker says weeks go by with no placements. I don't think I can wait more than a year but we'll hope for the best in the next 6 months.
